Cosmetic acupuncture can help promote collagen synthesis by way of a chemical reaction in the cells, which helps to address fine lines and wrinkles. It also targets facial muscles and encourages blood flow, which can improve the distribution of nutrients and oxygen to the skin, to create a fuller, plump-er appearance due increased levels of collagen and elastin. Cosmetic acupuncture opens the meridian channels so that the skin can receive more oxygen and nutrients through improved circulation for a smoother and more vibrant complexion.

After acupuncture there may be slight bruising to the skin at the sites where the acupuncture needles were inserted. This is normal, the bruising is minimal and will fade after a few days. A small number of people may feel tiredness after the treatment however.
