How It Works

Radio frequency is used to heat deeper layers of the skin, leading to the stimulation and activation of collagen structures. As we get older the collagen and elastin fibres break, thicken, stiffen, clump together, and lose their elasticity. This results in wrinkles and ageing lines. The use of radio frequency in the beauty & aesthetic industry is a well-established practice that has been employed for numerous years. This technique involves applying heat to deeper layers of the skin, leading to the stimulation and activation of collagen structures. As a result, the skin experiences immediate tightening, while also encouraging the production of new collagen.

When will I see results?

Immediate improvements can be seen for most clients, further results will be gradual and subtle. Although modest, the changes can be seen, for example, a ‘tired eye’ appearance and a ‘rested eye’. Improvements will become increasingly visible over a six month period and may last for up to two years.

Which areas can be treated?

Improving the jowl, eyes and neck areas are the most popular and effective uses of radio frequency.
Forehead – lifts brows, tightens the forehead skin.
Under eyes – thickens and strengthens the delicate skin whilst softening fine lines.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment feels reasonably warm but pleasant and is rarely uncomfortable.

How long is the treatment?

The therapist will use a hand piece containing electrodes to deliver radio frequency energy which heats the middle and lower layers of the dermis. Depending on the size of the area being treated the procedure usually takes on average 45 minutes, in addition to consultation.

Is there any downtime or aftercare?

The Collagenwave treatment is non invasive and there is no downtime involved. With an intense treatment there is the chance of some mild redness immediately after treatment which will disperse in time.

Are there any contraindications?

Clients with pacemakers, metal pins or plates in the treated area, pregnant women, epilepsy, disease of the heart/muscular or connective tissue, are not suitable for this treatment.

Will I need anaesthetic?

No, not required.
