We are selective about the technology we use at our clinics. That has always been the case. Unless I can stand behind the results — and genuinely understand what a treatment is doing to the skin — it does not make it onto our menu.
The Alma Harmony XL is one I am very happy with. It sits on the treatment menu at DermaSpa Milton Keynes and at Nilam Holmes X The Level in London. The reason is simple: in practice, it does what it is designed to do. Our clients are seeing results.
I get a lot of questions about it — what it is, what it can treat, whether it might be right for a particular concern. So I wanted to answer those questions properly, and also share how we tend to use it in clinic. Because there is one combination in particular that I come back to again and again.

What actually is the Harmony XL?
It is a multi-application platform — several different treatment technologies built into a single device. That matters because it means we can address quite a broad range of concerns without needing a different machine for each one.
Through the four applicators we offer — ClearSkin, ClearLift, DVL, and ClearVein — we can work on active acne and congestion, pigmentation and sun damage, redness and rosacea, thread veins and spider veins, fine lines, skin laxity, uneven texture, and concerns around the under-eye area.
Each applicator works differently. This is not one energy source applied to everything. Each treatment is specific to what it is trying to achieve, which is why the range is genuinely broad.

Who is it suitable for?
That is always something we establish at consultation, because it varies. The Harmony XL covers a lot of ground, but suitability depends on the individual — their skin, their specific concerns, what they are hoping to achieve.
There are contraindications, as with any energy-based treatment. If we feel a different approach would serve you better, we will say so. We are not going to recommend something that is not the right fit.
What kind of results can you realistically expect?
Realistic expectations are something I feel strongly about. I would always rather set honest ones at the outset than have someone feel disappointed.
From our experience with the Harmony XL, most clients start noticing genuine improvement around their second or third session, with the most meaningful change building over a full course. How quickly depends on the treatment — ClearVein tends to show visible reduction in thread veins fairly early on. ClearLift is more cumulative; the changes build gradually, which can feel slower initially, but the result is worth it.

The combination I come back to: The Bio Boost
If I had to name one thing we do with the Harmony XL that I genuinely believe in, it is this.
The Bio Boost (as we choose to call it) is a combination treatment we put together — pairing ClearLift and ClearSkin in a single session offering skin laxity improvements and treatment towards a specific skin problem you may have.
It is something I recommend regularly to make the most of your appointment and is becoming very popular

ClearLift — working beneath the surface
ClearLift uses a fractional laser to work below the surface of the skin. It stimulates collagen, improves firmness and tone, and works on the overall structure and quality of the skin. It is non-invasive with no downtime — suitable for clients who want to address laxity, fine lines, or a loss of definition without any recovery time.
ClearSkin — working at the surface
ClearSkin targets active concerns at the surface level — acne, congestion, pigmentation, uneven texture. It uses a combination of laser energy and vacuum technology to clear the skin and improve its overall condition. Again, no downtime.

Why the combination works
The reason I like this pairing is that the two treatments genuinely complement each other. ClearLift works on the structure — the deeper, underlying quality of the skin. ClearSkin works on active concerns at the surface. Together, you are treating the skin at different depths, for different reasons, in the same appointment. One appointment. Two results.
It is not right for everyone — we always advise based on what your skin actually needs when we see you. But for clients who want to address both skin quality and specific surface concerns at the same time, it is a combination I keep coming back to.
Thinking about this? Come and speak to us.
The Harmony XL is a sophisticated platform, and the best outcomes come from matching the right treatment to the right person. Whether you are dealing with thread veins, persistent acne, pigmentation, or skin that has simply lost some of its quality over time — we can put together a plan around your specific goals.
Our consultations are thorough and honest. If the Harmony XL is not the right fit for you, we will tell you that, and point you in the right direction.
